Cold Weather Sailing

As we all know, the weather in Central Texas can vary dramatically during the Winter... one weekend can be 70 degrees and sunny and the next weekend can bring freezing rain. If the wind-chill factor is below freezing, we will not race (but anything above that is fair game :-) Please bring warm clothes as conditions warrant. If the winds are above 10 knots you may get splashed with water. If the winds are above 15 knots, you will get splashed :-) Getting splashed with water in the Summer is a blast!!, but getting splashed in the Winter can ruin your day if you don't have the proper gear. If you have sailing "foulies" (foul weather gear) don't leave home without them :-) If you have snowboarding or skiing clothes, these would be a good substitute. If you have neither, then an inexpensive rainsuit will keep you dry (get the type with overalls with suspenders and a separate jacket instead of getting the "poncho" style). An extra set of dry clothes would be a good thing to bring just in case.
