Mission StatementThe mission of the AYC Racing School is to promote the sport of sailboat racing and to raise the level of competition in Central Texas. Austin is already a hotbed for sailboat racing and we want to raise the bar even higher. We want more Austin boats to place high in state, national and even international competitions! This mission will be accomplished by training students in the techniques used to race sailboats and by encouraging students to participate as crew during local AYC races and during out-of-town regattas when a spot in one of the racing boats becomes available. Students who complete the Racing School curriculum will have the knowledge and confidence needed to buy a sailboat and start racing.
The AYC Racing School
The AYC Racing School is organized by volunteers at the Austin Yacht Club. AYC is a private sailing club whose primary purpose is to promote sailboat racing and related social activities on Lake Travis. We are passionate about racing sailboats and we want you to catch the bug too! We encourage you to explore our website, see how the racing school is organized, look at the class schedule and the courses offered, and register for a class.
How much does it cost?

of Bruce McDonald) The best things in life are free, and so is the AYC Racing School :-) Your instructors are volunteer sailors from the Austin Yacht Club who will be participating in a club-sponsored race later in the day. We get to the club a couple of hours earlier than we normally would in order to teach you how to sail. It's a win-win situation :-) We get to sail more (instead of mowing the lawn), and you get to learn how to sail. We are hoping that once you catch the bug you'll join us on the race course, and we'll teach you everything you need to know in order to get there.
If you have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We hope to see you on the race course!
